Your first grader works VERY HARD in school all day and needs the opportunity to play and spend time with family after school. Therefore, there will not be formal homework worksheets, packets, or calendars coming home this school year.
Instead, I have some general homework suggestions that will remain the same throughout the school year. As much as your family schedule allows, students should do the following things daily.

- Read and record their reading on a reading log: Reading logs will be first added to binders after our Curriculum Night; I will send a new one home when your child returns a completed log. Should you ever need a copy of a reading log, you can download one here or from the Links for Parents page.
- Practice sight words: New sight words will be sent home on most Mondays throughout the school year. You can find a list of all of the first grade sight words here or on the Links for Parents page.
- Practice math facts: Flash cards will be distributed at Parent/Teacher Conferences in October to help you with this practice. Timed fact tests will begin after conferences; I will send home a copy of the test your child is working on so that you can practice these specific facts at home as well.
