We went on a field trip! We went to see a play about Curious George. It was on a stage. The Man with the Yellow Hat was in the show too. George mailed himself to Rome so he could enter "The Golden Meatball Contest." George won the Golden Meatball trophy. He used the secret ingredient. The secret ingredient is LOVE! Most people in our class liked the end. Before we went on the trip, we got Curious George books and read them so we had some ideas about who Curious George was.
We started a new topic in math. The topic is counting to 120. One way to count is to count by tens. We've also been making and counting groups of ten. We've used ten frames and base 10 blocks and counters as tools during this topic.
We also started a new topic in science. We've learned about motion. Forces make things move. A force is a push or a pull. The more force you put on an object, the faster it goes. Fast and slow are words we use for speed. We've also learned about the north poles and south poles of magnets. If you put two north poles or two south poles together, they will repel against each other and won't stick together. We also learned about attracting magnets. Magnets will attract when the south pole faces a north pole.
This week was good, but next week will be even more awesome. Next week, we will have Groundhog Day, the 100th Day of School, Discovery testing, student-led conferences, and parent-teacher conferences too. It will be busy! We hope you comment on our blog.
