Would you like to know about Abraham Lincoln? We did, and we learned all about him this week! When Abraham Lincoln was a kid, he liked to write and read. When he was a kid, Abraham saw other kids throwing rocks from a fire at a turtle. He said stop! Abraham Lincoln's wife was named Mary Todd. He had four children and three of them died. Abraham Lincoln was a fancy dresser. He saved notes in his hat. Abraham Lincoln lost four elections before he became our 16th President. He was a good President. He stepped up for animals and people. Abraham Lincoln died in 1865 when he was shot in Ford's Theater. Abraham Lincoln was an awesome guy!

There are two important holidays in February: Valentine's Day and President's Day.
We celebrated Valentine's Day on Tuesday. We did not have Reading Buddies because we had a party. We put Valentines in everybody's bags. We ate heart-shaped cookies. We made animals out of hearts. Valentine's Day was exciting. President's Day is in three more days on Monday. We don't have school. We honor the Presidents on President's Day. Today we learned about George Washington. George Washington was our first President. George Washington was born in 1732. He started working at the age of 17. He worked making maps, in the army, and as a farmer. George Washington was a war hero during the war between the colonies and England. George Washington died in 1799. Next week, we will learn about Abraham Lincoln. February is a awesome, outstanding, and quk month! We've had lots of fun learning this week! Here are some of the things we learned or did!
Cooper: We did Read to Self in Daily 5. Sean: We had the hundredth day and we had a special snack. We had 1 rectangle cookie and 2 circle cookies and we had to figure out what it was and it made 100. Jack: It was Groundhog's Day today! Leo: We learned about Harriet Tubman. She was a slave. Lauren: Harriet Tubman escaped from slavery. Phaze: We watched the groundhog. Lyla: We got to do special 100th Day papers. Rodrigo: Today we had art in the morning. Jade: Today we had Daily 5 in the afternoon. Normally, we have Daily 5 in the morning. Jeremiah: We watched Chicka Chicka 123 on the 100th Day. Alejandro: We decorated shirts for Mrs. H and Miss Russell on the 100th Day. Ellie: We watched the groundhog video to see if it was winter or early spring. Anna: On the 100th Day we skipped a lot of things on our schedule that we usually do so we do fun things. Bryson: In Daily 5, most of us did Work on Writing. Addie: When Harriet Tubman was a slave she was trying to help friend when they were working hard in the field. One of the slave owners hit her hard with a stone. She had headaches a lot. Logan: Harriet Tubman went back to the South 19 times to help other slaves escape. She helped over 300 slaves escape. Spring: Yesterday we went to Miss Current's class to share our Hope stories that we wrote. Martell: We sorted and glued our word study words. Mallorie: In math, we learned about hundreds, tens, and ones. It's been a busy week of learning! |
