will receive postcards from other classes, and we will send postcards to them. We should be receiving postcards from all over the country (and maybe even the world). So far we've received postcards from Ohio and Michigan.
Here's what we wrote on our postcards that we are sending out.
Dear Friends,
We are first graders at Oakland School. We have 23 children and 2 teachers in our classroom. We also have fish and a hamster. Here are some facts about our state Illinois.
1. Our nickname is the Prairie State. We are also called the Land of Lincoln.
2. Our state snack is popcorn.
3. Our state flower is the violet.
4. We grow lots of corn, soybeans and pumpkins in Illinois.
5. Our state animal is a white-tailed deer.
6. Our state bird is a cardinal.
7. Illinois was named after a Native American tribe who lived here.
8. Chicago is the biggest city in Illinois.
Love,
First Graders in Illinois
We'll keep you updated when we receive more postcards!
