Today is first grade Polar Express Fun Day! We are watching the movie The Polar Express with Mrs. Merna's class. We watched the movie in her room this morning and will watch the movie in our room this afternoon. We are wearing pajamas. After the movie, we will go to the All School Sing.
Yesterday we made gingerbread houses. We used lots of candies and other foods to make the gingerbread houses. Lots of grown-ups helped us make the gingerbread houses. Ryan's mom, Evelyne's mom, Mrs. H, Mrs. Bell, and Mrs. Newby helped us make the houses. Mrs. Merna washed out 96 milk cartons to use as the base of the houses.
We learned about winter holidays this week. We learned about Kwanzaa and Hanukkah this week. Both holidays are celebrated using candles. Hanukkah celebrates the miracle long ago when the lamp burned for eight nights even though there was onlyenough oil for one night. In Kwanzaa, candles are put in a Kinara.
We are planning to have a good winter break! We hope you have a good winter break too!
