We have been learning about animal features. A giraffe uses his neck to reach the trees. A deer puts up its tail to warn other deer when there is trouble. A kangaroo taps his feet to warn the other kangaroos that there is danger. A peacock uses his feathers to scare away predators to keep him safe. A snowshoe hare changes colors to blend in. A chameleon changes colors when it is angry or scared. Animal features are fun to learn about.
This week we learned about thinking addition to subtract. When it's 10-5, you can think about a double and add 5+5 to make 10, then you'll know that 10-5 is 5. A double is when you have two numbers that are same and you add them, like 2+2=4. Thinking addition is fun to learn.
We have been working on math timed tests. We only have one minute and there are 30 problems on our paper. You have to get 20 problems right to go to the next timed test. Some of us are working on the third timed test next week. Some of us are still working on the first or second timed tests. That is okay! Mrs. Heinonen says that we all move at our own pace.
We are having fun working on science and math. Please send us more comments this week!
